I chose to study Sanskrit with the previously unknown Natalija Burisina simply because I live in the countryside and it is unreasonably burdensome to travel to in-person classes, which at one point were offered, I believe, by the University of Latvia. Natalija, on the other hand, conducts lessons online, which is very convenient for me. And I am delighted with this choice, because Natalija leads Sanskrit lessons with great responsibility, joy, and a genuine interest in sharing with others what she herself knows, striving to explain and help learn as well as possible. As a result, the atmosphere of the lessons becomes not only educational but also professionally friendly, simple, very pleasant, and conducive to acquiring knowledge. Moreover, Natalija strives to give as much as possible in these lessons — so that within the first 10 sessions she lays the foundations that allow you to already understand the basic rules of Sanskrit text construction and continue studying on your own or in subsequent courses. For a working person, the pace of study did seem too intense, and it felt like: surely you can't fit all that into your head in a week — before the next lesson! But the next lesson included homework analysis, the opportunity to ask questions and clarify what was unclear, and a review of the topic — so gradually even what initially seemed incomprehensible began to stick. And, to my own amazement, in the final lessons we were already reading sentences and understanding them. So, although it sometimes felt difficult, I understand that with Natalija's chosen approach — giving as much as possible in every lesson to reach reading and text comprehension faster — her students are the winners, even if at times it seemed like too much. Because the lesson materials and references to various sources remain with us forever, and the recordings will also be available for a certain period: there is the opportunity to review everything and listen again, paying attention to what previously slipped by. Since there is a break before the next course and the lessons took place in a very pleasant and supportive atmosphere, I will certainly listen to all the recordings again with pleasure and hope that afterward I will be ready to continue studying. It also seems important to add: the fact that Natalija does her teaching work with the utmost conscientiousness and genuine interest is evidenced by the fact that on a couple of occasions when she made minor inaccuracies while answering our questions, she always informed us and corrected them by email or in the next lesson. We most likely would not have noticed or known if she hadn't said so herself. That is why I greatly appreciate these corrections. So, all in all, I am pleased both that I am gradually breaking into Sanskrit and that I have met a pleasant, intelligent, and responsible person.

In school I studied German and, of course, Russian. Then in the real world I found myself in an environment where I needed to learn English for work. There were many attempts in various groups over several years, but I still couldn't speak or communicate in English. And then I met Natalija, and we agreed on serious, regular, individual lessons over several years. Now I speak and write freely in this language that is so essential today. My work involves frequent travel around the world. And only thanks to Natalija — a highly professional educator with a properly tailored individual program designed specifically for me, patience, and a firm stance on grammar mastery and homework completion, without which language learning is unimaginable — have I achieved the ability to be part of the global community. People fall into two groups — those who pick up languages easily, and those who find it harder. I belong to the latter. And there are also instructors who know how to motivate and teach a language, and those who don't manage it as well.
